T-Mobile has announced two new phones in their myTouch line – the myTouch and the myTouch Q. Both phones are aimed at those new to the smartphone market who are looking to be eased in, likely at a lower price point.

The guts of both phones are identical – the difference is that the myTouch sports a 3.8” touch screen and comes in black and white, while the myTouch Q has a 3.5” touch screen with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, and comes in gray and violet.

Both phones focus on introducing newbies to the world of smartphones through a set-up wizard that shows users how to get the most out of email and social network integration. A tips widget shows users how to use their loads of new apps and features effectively, with text tips and how-to videos. The Genius button allows for simple and direct voice commands for texting, calling, and web searches. Both run Android 2.3 Gingerbread and have a 1 GHz Qualcomm processor. They have a 5 MP camera and are capable of taking and playing back 720p HD video. There is a front facing camera, which will work with the Qik app to enable video calling.

As these are T-Mobile phones, users will also be on T-Mobile’s relatively robust HSPA+ 4G network. With the tips, the set-up wizard, and 4G, newbies should be able to get up to speed very quickly using these phones. Pricing and release dates are not confirmed, though T-Mobile promises that the phones will be out in time for the holiday season
